Terms of use
These terms cover your use of RetroAudio (audio.theretrochat.com), a RetroChat product: the dashboard, the Listen button, the Reader, Studio, the text-to-speech API and the WordPress plugin. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you use RetroAudio on behalf of a business or organization, you agree for it.
1. Your account
- You must be at least 18 and use RetroAudio for your business or organization.
- Keep your login details and API keys safe. You are responsible for everything done in your workspaces, including by teammates you invite and by apps using your keys.
- Only add the Listen button to websites you own or are allowed to change.
2. Free trial
New workspaces start with a free 14-day trial with no payment details needed. When it ends, the Listen button and API stop working until a plan is chosen. Each account gets one free trial.
3. Plans, credits and payment
- Plans are subscriptions billed monthly or yearly in advance, at the prices on our pricing page, plus taxes where they apply. Enterprise plans are agreed in writing.
- Each plan includes monthly credits. Credits are used when new audio, translations, definitions or summaries are made, as described in our docs. Unused credits don't carry over.
- When a month's credits run out, new audio uses visitors' device voices until the next month or an upgrade.
- We may change prices for future billing periods and will tell you before a change affects you.
- Payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.
4. Content and AI features
You own the text, documents and audio in your workspaces, and you give us permission to process them only to provide RetroAudio to you. Make sure you have the right to use any content you have read aloud, translated or summarized. Speech, translations, definitions and summaries are produced automatically and can contain mistakes; review anything important, and don't rely on them for legal, medical, financial or safety decisions. Audio you export from Studio may be used for any lawful purpose, including commercial use.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use RetroAudio to impersonate real people, to create misleading or harmful audio, to send spam, to infringe others' rights, or to break the law; and don't try to break, overload, scrape or get around the limits of the service, including by using a site key outside its domains. We may suspend or close workspaces that do, without refund.
6. Your visitors
You're responsible for telling your website's visitors, where needed, that text they choose to hear, translate or summarize is processed by RetroAudio. Our privacy policy describes what we process.
7. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep RetroAudio running and secure, but it is provided "as is", without a guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free service. We may improve, change or remove features over time.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, revenue or data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your workspace from Settings at any time. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms or put the service or other customers at risk.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for important changes, email workspace owners before they apply. Continuing to use RetroAudio after a change means you accept it.
